Aurora
Project type
Solo performance
Location
MAMA gallery, Rotterdam
In this performance the artist sits behind a glass vitrine, her face covered by a mask made of white flowers. Behind this fragile barrier, she breastfeeds her daughter, Aurora. From the street outside, religious choral music plays through a loudspeaker, filling the space with echoes of devotion and ceremony.
The performance transforms a quiet, everyday gesture into something luminous and almost sacred. The glass separates mother and child from the world, yet also frames them — as if to make visible the miracle contained in the ordinary act of feeding, holding, and being held. The mask of flowers softens identity, allowing the moment to become universal: an image of care, of dependence, of the small and continuous miracle of life itself.
